Clair De Lune Ballet Visualization
In this assignment, students are to create an animation which is a visual description of a segment of music of their choice. The dynamics, instruments, and tempo should be complemented by the process of animation and design principles chosen by the student to show the movement. However, the animation must be in grayscale. The student should also be able to demonstrate their ideas through different annotation and iteration techniques. These can include creating forms to move as photos are taken or drawing the movement of the object. Regardless of the animation process used, the shapes which make up the animation must be abstract (i.e. cannot be representative of any physical object).
I began by choreographing and filming myself dancing to the portion of music I was assigned. I then took screen captures of each move to study the movement and experiment with organic shapes. Here are some examples!
After, I made a storyboard of the timing of my drawings and how the final shapes would move.
Finally, I drew each frame, following my arm and leg movements with organic shapes which collect and stretch depending on the speed. These are some select frames
Through this project, I found that I was extremely passionate about 2D animation. I would love to see how I can apply this to projects in my future.
Deconstruction 3D Animation
Students were to find existing 3D Lego files and animate them falling apart and coming back together. I chose to animate the scene of an alien abduction!
I used two pre-existing models from Sketchfab- a cow and a flying saucer!
